The Great Green Wall Programme

WeForest’s Great Green Wall programme focuses on the Ferlo region in Senegal, where advancing desertification threatens livelihoods, biodiversity and the resilience of rural communities. Working at the western edge of the wider Great Green Wall initiative, we restore degraded land through native trees, assisted natural regeneration and sustainable land management.

By partnering with local families and pastoralists, we help protect fragile ecosystems, diversify incomes and strengthen long-term stewardship of the landscape. Together, we’re growing a mosaic of healthy woodlands and productive land that safeguards the region’s people, nature and climate for generations to come.
