December is mango season in Zambia, which means fruits are abundant and everywhere available, and it means: tough competition on the market. WeForest provides and subsidizes grafted mango trees (varieties Kent and Tommy Atkins) which produce bigger and more tasteful fruits. Most importantly, these fruits only ripen by end of January and into most of February. This way, farmers can sell their mangos at a time when mangos are getting scarcer again. Our farmers can then fetch a higher price and increase their income.
