Wildlife Corridors

The Wildlife Corridors Programme

In South America our programme focuses on the Atlantic Forest. Agricultural-driven deforestation has left only disconnected fragments, yet this biodiversity hotspot is home to more than 300 amphibian, 250 mammal, 1000 bird and 200 reptile species.

Blue Carbon

The Blue Carbon Programme

“Blue carbon” is carbon captured by oceans and coastal ecosystems. We restore mangroves – trees and shrubs that grow in coastal wetlands – which can sequester up to four times more carbon than terrestrial forests.

Great Green Wall

The Great Green Wall Programme

The global Great Green Wall movement to grow 8 000km across the width of Africa has demonstrated limited success, often due to conflicts between sedentary and pastoralist communities. WeForest’s programme is well positioned to accelerate and scale the African Great Green Wall, starting with our established projects in Ethiopia.

Miombo Belt Regeneration

The Miombo Belt Regeneration Programme

Home to iconic wildlife, miombo forests provide fuel, food, medicinal plants and fodder for livestock. Working with local communities, government and businesses, we are creating community forests, supporting farming families and regenerating reserves in these precious forests, on which over 65 million people depend.
