DB SCHENKER is one of the world’s leading global logistics providers, supporting industry and trade in the global exchange of goods through land transport, worldwide air and ocean freight, contract logistics and supply chain management.
In its 150th anniversary year, DB SCHENKER wanted to push its company challenge to a new dimension and lead the way for a greater good. They came up with an employee engagement campaign – “150 Years Elevating Lives” – to connect employees worldwide and accumulate kilometers through various mental and physical activities. This campaign raised money for four carefully selected charitable organizations related to the company’s commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals – one of which was WeForest.
DB SCHENKER staff “collected” kilometers by running, walking, cycling, doing quizzes or even meditation, and tracked them in a dedicated app. For every kilometer collected, DB SCHENKER donated 1c to the sustainability organizations.
The prize-winning campaign was hugely popular with the company’s employees, who covered over 30 million km for WeForest, raising funding for the restoration of more than 150 hectares of forest in both Ethiopia and Brazil.
