New GRO framework tracks progress and trends in ecosystem restoration

The Global Restoration Observatory (GRO) have been busy lately.

As well as launching a new website, they’ve just published a Restoration Project Information Sharing Framework.

This is the end result of an extensive review of existing indicators for monitoring ecosystem restoration organized under the UN Decade’s 10 Principles of Ecosystem Restoration. These were then refined into a new framework which can be used to track restoration progress across many different platforms and databases. WeForest, along with the GRO’s other members – which include the Crowther Lab, Plant for the Planet, Restor and the WWF – all contributed to the process.

The framework and accompanying report can be downloaded here.
