Tapirs (Tapirus terrestris) make important contributions to restoration, dispersing seeds and helping Assisted Natural Regeneration along.
Maned wolves (Chrysocyon brachyurus) are actually omnivores, so they also help with seed dispersal.
The cameras have also registered endangered giant anteaters (Myrmecophaga tridactyla), pumas (Puma concolor) and even a jaguar (Panthera onca)!
There are only around 20 jaguars living in the Pontal area, and this one was spotted in Morro do Diabo State Park, the largest forest fragment being connected by our restoration here.
