Soils provide living space for humans, as well as essential ecosystem services, like nutrients for crops and water regulation, biodiversity conservation and cultural services. But soils, like trees, also have a critical role to play in climate change through their carbon sequestration potential.
Unfortunately, soils are under pressure from increases in population, higher demands for food, competing land uses and deforestation, all of which will have negative impacts on these importance processes. That’s why WeForest is joining organizations across the globe to celebrate World Soil Day in recognition of the importance of soils for people and nature.
