Here is a resource for anyone who is going to be doing work in the wet / dry tropics (and an informative read for anyone interested in reforestation and local involvement in general).

There is an organization out of Chiang Mai University called Forru (Forest Restoration and Rehabilitation Unit) that is doing great work, both planting, and helping others to understand how to effectivily replant indigenous forests in Northern Thailand.

Forru: www.forru.org

You can download a number of their publications for free, including

How to Plant a Forest

here:

It is a great book that not only lays out the framework species for the area, but also about how to work best with the local communities to help them feel involved and invested in the project.

Very good stuff.
Enjoy!
